Sustainability

In a growing Berlin, the BVG is a reliable companion on the road to the post-fossil, climate-neutral, and cost-effective future of mobility. Sustainable operations are a strategic goal that we, as a public-spirited and environmentally-friendly company, consistently pursue on the basis of our economical, ecological, and social responsibilities. In everything we do, of course, we pay particular attention to our customers and their changing mobility needs.
Every single day, we aim to prove ourselves as an innovative mobility services provider, at the same time securing the company’s economic success in the long term. We see it as our task to further promote ecologically sound public transport in the capital and to advocate for sustainable climate protection and the environmentally-friendly use of resources. This can be seen, for example, in the billions we have invested in infrastructure and the planned transformation of our entire bus fleet to e-buses running on 100% green electricity. It is also reflected in our particular sense of responsibility towards our employees, an open corporate culture, our embrace of social diversity, and a good work-life balance. As Germany’s largest public transport company, sustainability is a very important issue for BVG. We take responsibility for the environment, for our own employees, for society and for our value chain. To this end, we have set up processes in accordance with the requirements of the German Supply Chain Sustainability Act (LkSG). Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains (LkSG): Complaints procedure The procedure for managing LkSG-relevant complaints is described below. The requirements of the Whistleblower Act are followed throughout the process, especially regarding the independence and confidentiality of those processing complaints. Whistleblowers can also submit complaints under the LkSG anonymously. We aim to keep the processing time as short as possible and – if desired – to remain in contact with the whistleblower throughout the process and provide information in a clear and comprehensible manner. We comply with data protection legislation. The effectiveness of the complaints procedure is regularly reviewed. A fuller picture of the BVG in the “sustainability triangle” is set out in regular Communications on Progress and in the German Sustainability Code.
